Pattern and colour in nature - Felix Salazar | Pitter Pattern

I found this amazing collection of photographs, Macro Reef Dwellers: A Retrospective, by Felix Salazar and had to share them with you. Colour and patterns in nature, you might agree, are a great source of inspiration.

I’ve also created a colour palette for each photograph which you are very welcome to use in your own designs if you like them.

I’m always amazed at the amount of inspiration that nature can offer. The weirdest, strangest and most wonderful things exist here on earth, we need to look no further.

I walk my dog down the same streets every day, and every day I discover a new little something that I hadn’t noticed before. Every season, every plant on my path has a little surprise for me. A tiny seedpod, a plump flower bud, a miniature spider making a web between their leaves… All these beautiful microworlds are waiting to be discovered.

Today I challenge you to take a closer look (a REALLY close one) around your garden, the local beach or even the fruit and vegetables shelf at your supermarket (have you seen, for example, the incredible Romanesco Broccoli?!?). Be curious… Inspiration is out there, up for grabs, you just have to take a minute and pay attention to your surroundings.
