Veronica Galbraith on the Patternbase Book | Pitter Pattern

UPDATE: The book has now been published! You can read more about it here.

I’ve been jumping on one leg for three days since Kristi O’Meara (from ‘The PatternBase’ blog) sent me an email telling me that 11 of my surface pattern designs will be included in her new book: ‘PATTERNBASE: A Book of Contemporary Textile & Surface Design’!

PATTERNBASE will be the first publication to be self-released by The PatternBase. This 250 page, full-colour book will showcase a collection of textile, surface and print designs from contemporary artists and designers around the globe, and will include spotlights and interviews from a number of artists working within the textile and fashion industries today.

There was a lot of competition as 467 artists and designers sent over 2,500 designs.

Kristi is creating this book as a Kickstarter project and in only 1 month, she managed to raise more money than the amount pledged. This is all great news for us pattern lovers and a great example of how, if you want something badly enough, you can definitely make it happen!

Well done Kristi and thank you for including me!

I am a designer, originally from Colombia and now living permanently in Cornwall, UK. I graduated in Product Design but since then have mostly worked in graphics for print and web. A few years ago I decided to specialise in Surface Pattern Design and I'm loving it!

This is wonderful! Congratulations on making it into Indigo. It looks like you had a lot of fun.

Wasn’t ABSPD just about the best thing you ever did for yourself? I just finished the three modules; learned so much and have barely scratched the surface yet.

Looking forward to digging deeper into Pitter Pattern…thanks for the inspiration!
