Well hello there my lovely reader! I’m literally dying of embarrassment from having disappeared for so long from the blog… But, there’s a reason for this absence, and a good one!
I’ve been working really hard behind the scenes on a secret project, and I’ve decided today is the day to let the cat out of the bag…
Pitter Pattern has been around for almost 6 years now and I thought it was time to shake things up a bit.
The blog started just as a hobby, a sort of design-life diary. It was just a way for me to collect the current happenings during my initial immersion in the wonderful world of surface pattern design.
If I’m honest, I never expected to have many readers, if any at all. At the beginning I was fine with this, as it was more a personal exercise than anything else.
Around year 2 I started thinking that it would be nice to grow my audience, and I did, but very slowly… I started resenting writing for the blog, as I felt it was too much effort for what I was getting back from it. I didn’t even know if people were actually reading what I was sharing.
For some very strange reason, my very stubborn self didn’t want to let go and I’m now very grateful for my persistence! People (like you!) started visiting the blog more often and you’ve told me you’ve really enjoyed some of the posts.
Even though the visitors have grown exponentially in the last couple of years, I know Pitter Pattern and myself have a lot more to offer. I have to confess that I haven’t given the blog (and you!) the attention and effort it deserves, and things are about to change…
A few months ago I came up with the idea of creating a private area in the blog where you could get access to all sorts of surface pattern design resources; the information and knowledge I’ve accumulated in my 7 years in the business. The kind of things I wish I’d had handed to me in one neat bundle, back when I started designing patterns.
This area will run on a monthly paid membership basis and the fun thing is that the content will be pretty much dictated by you!
I’m in the process of creating a survey, which I’ll soon send out to all my subscribers, where I’ll be asking you some key questions to help me learn more about you and your needs. Then I can decide what’s the best way to serve you and create content that’s truly relevant.
There have been several permutations of the kind of content I think it’d be good to share, but one area I know I want to be focusing heavily on is the technical and technological aspects of being a surface pattern designer, being the geek that I am!
I’ve noticed through the years that one of the main things stopping people from properly developing themselves as successful pattern designers is a lack of technical knowledge and unfamiliarity with technology.
One thing is certain, we’re in the digital era, and it’s crucial that to move forward as pattern designers we learn our way around the software, apps and the wonderful digital resources we have available at our fingertips nowadays.
Some people are scared of jumping fully on the surface pattern design wagon because of their lack of digital and technological skills, and I’m all up for helping to fix that!
So now it’s your turn to let me know if this sounds interesting to you… Please sign up for the waiting list by clicking the button at the end of this post, so I know that you’re interested in hearing more about it.
Don’t worry, signing up doesn’t mean you’re bound to anything, it just shows me that the idea is viable and that I’m on the right track. Also, the Pitter Pattern you know and love will still be here, this is an addition to the current site to enable me to help you further, rather than a replacement for the current free resources.
And as a cherry on the top, if you sign up to the waiting list you’ll get first dibs and the best price possible once the doors open!
Looking forward to hearing from you and here’s to the next phase of Pitter Pattern…
